Compared to Barbour wax jackets, Barbour quilted jackets are much less waterproof. However, thanks to their quilted properties and insulated fleece lining, Barbour quilted jackets are still just as good at protecting against the wind and cold weather.

Are Barbour jackets warm?
For the most part, Barbour jackets are warm and will keep you protected from the cold during walks and outdoor work. One of the many good things about Barbour jackets is that it’s easy to wear layers beneath the jackets, allowing you to keep even warmer for longer.
Barbour quilted jackets are usually found to be warmer than wax jackets, with a fleece lining that offers extra protection without layering.

Are Barbour jackets true to size?
While Barbour jackets don’t necessarily run small, they are rather fitted which can make them tight in certain places.
If you’d like to wear thick layers underneath your Barbour jacket, then we recommend sizing up to ensure that you have the space to comfortably do so.
To make sure your Barbour jacket fits properly, test it by ensuring you can move comfortably in it. For example, if you are planning to wear your jacket for shooting, make sure you can aim and move efficiently without the jacket pulling, ripping or hurting.
Can Barbour jackets be washed?
Barbour wax jackets should never be washed, as this will remove the wax coating permanently and the jacket will never be able to be rewaxed. Instead, use cold water and a sponge to wipe down the outside of the jacket, and always avoid using any hot water and soap.
For quilted jackets, it’s vital that you follow the washing instructions given, like with all garments.
Can Barbour jackets be repaired?
Barbour jackets can be repaired and rewaxed, to ensure that they constantly remain at a high standard.
Hurleys is proud to stock Barbour wax dressing, a product that’s designed to allow you to repair wax jackets at home. Although we don’t currently have the dressing in stock, we are set to restock this shortly, and will continue to restock this once sold out again.
Do Barbour jackets stretch?
Barbour jackets generally do not stretch, so it’s important to purchase your Barbour jacket knowing this.
Like stated above, most Barbour jackets are rather fitted, meaning that there is little room for stretch.
